If you’ve read any of my other blog posts, you’ll probably already know that I love the changing of the seasons. Spring is nearly upon us: the official first day of Spring, the Vernal Equinox, is just a few weeks away on the 20th March. And the changing of the season from Winter into Spring brings us so much. We are actually happier (sunny days really do make us feel better), the days are longer, flowers are blooming and plants are coming into leaf, outdoor eating and drinking can begin, and of course there’s the anticipation of summer and all that the long, warm, sunny days will bring! This is why this week’s blog post covers the reasons to choose a Spring wedding. Of course, you can find further ideas on our Pinterest board, but here’s our top 8 reasons why Spring is the perfect season for your wedding.
1. Spring symbolises ‘new beginnings’
When I think of Spring, the first thing I think of is the garden coming to life. The trees have buds on them, new greens are literally popping out of the ground and everywhere you look around you the colours are changing from brown to green. New life is everywhere: lambs, rabbits, baby birds, and all of my favourite plants are back too. What better time than to embark on your journey as a married couple?
2. Better weather
We all want perfect weather on our wedding day, and while that is guaranteed (ever!), Spring offers comfortable temperatures (you won’t be shivering or sweating in your dress / suit), and is generally a calm and dry season here in the UK.
3. Better wedding date availability at your favourite venue
It can be harder to secure your favourite venue in the summer, even when booking 12 months ahead. Opting for a Spring wedding opens up more dates but also the possibility of a discount also… Not only that, but you’re not combatting your guests’ annual holiday commitments either.
4. Wedding suppliers are less in-demand than they are in the summer
Whether you’ve left booking your photographer to the last minute or you’ve got your eye on Norfolk’s top florist, having a Spring wedding means that you’re more likely to secure your favourite wedding suppliers. This soon changes come the summer – here at Vintage Partyware, we’ve already taken summer bookings for 2019!
5. A choice of beautiful colour palettes
Spring means that you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to colour schemes. The lighter, pastel tones of Spring are guaranteed to make your wedding look elegant and stylish.
6. An astounding array of bouquet choices
The availability of particular flowers changes throughout the year (just like fruit and veg). A Spring wedding means that whether you’ve opted for a soft, muted colour scheme or something more vibrant, you’ll find the perfect flowers for your wedding. We love Hyacinths, Lilac, Tulips, and Ranunculus. Our friend Sarah over at Precious Petals will be able to help you choose what’s best for your wedding.
7. Venues are blooming
There’s nothing prettier than a cherry tree full of blossom, Spring flowers, pastel colours and that soft romantic pop of colour that nature bursts with at this time of the year. What better backdrop for your wedding photos than your favourite venue in full bloom? I’m told lighting is better in the Spring also, making for great photographs!
8. Al-fresco, casual, and relaxed eating and drinking
As the days are longer and the temperatures are on the up, it’s time to head outside. It’s a great excuse for you and your guests to enjoy a relaxed drink outside. Liddy at The Little Horse Box has a luxury mobile bar which would be perfect for this…
If I’m honest, each season comes with its own pros and cons when you’re planning for your wedding. My advice: choose the one that appeals to you most, not the one that you think you should chose because ‘that’s what everyone else does’. There’s another blog post coming up in the not so distant future which will be all about how trends and etiquette do not have to be followed, so check back for that.
